The grounds were originally much larger, extending down to Whirlowdale Road where there was a small lake, but about two thirds has been sold off for housing development. What remains retains its original layout, in good condition. The stone boundary wall to Ecclesall Road South Remains, with quadrant stone gate posts. A tarmac drive with two circa 1900 wrought iron electric lamps encircles a pinetum of Corsican pine in front of the main house entrance. The northern boundary wall is backed by a belt of mature woodland, mainly conifers and poplar with shrubs beneath. This screens a lawn, possibly for tennis or croquet, bounded on the other three sides by mature yew and beech hedges. Beyond, on the west side of the house lies a formal garden with lawns, gravel paths, rose beds and a sundial. The lawn in front of the house is retained by a one metre high stone wall. The lawn below is bounded on the east and south by mature woodland and shrubs and on the western side by a recent Leylandii hedge, with some mature yew. Along the eastern boundary are the remains of a former lane, hedge and dry stone wall.
