Description

Striking detached dormer bungalow with many original features. Originally named The Paddock, the bungalow is constructed from brick with a pebble dash render and a brick plinth, stone dressings and a steeply pitched Westmorland slate roof. Symmetrically built in 3 bays with a central entrance flanked by projecting single storey gables, each with a stone 6-light square bay window with a Westmorland slate roof. Central bay has a 3-light mullioned window adjacent to the door. 4-light dormer window and several chimneys including a tall lateral stack to east elevation. Appears to be original detached garage to rear of driveway. The bungalow is set back from the road behind a brick wall and garden. All original windows to the front, rear not inspected.

Designed by prominent local architect Halstead Best, who is better known for his public buildings. The client was RHO Hill who had bazaars and the department store on Bank Hey Street which bore his name.
