Wayfarer Restaurant, Alder Lane, Parbold

Location/Address

Wayfarer Restaurant, Alder Lane, Parbold

Type

Building

Roofed and walled permanent structures.

Description

LLB93 - Original 18th century range. Formerly three separate buildings – two 19th century cottages and 1 larger 18th century stone cottage. The older building (western end) was previously an Inn but also may have been a farmhouse. All now form part of restaurant complex – later cottages joined to earlier building by a glazed link/extension. Recommend that only the older western portion of the building is retained on the Local List in light of recent remodelling of the buildings and conversion of two former cottages. All buildings are painted to blend together, although the western portion is of smaller scale and therefore noticeably older. Retains evidence of windows formerly being 3-light Yorkshire sliding sashes. Western section holds the historic and architectural interest – the later adjacent cottages have been much altered and knocked through during the creation of the restaurant.
