As a result, the park and all its associated features has been included in the current Local Heritage List for South Yorkshire. he house and garden were laid out in the mid 19th century as part of a neighbourhood development of small villas in small gardens. The layout was typically simple, with the villa in the centre of the rectangular plot, and was both ornamental and utilitarian in character. The house was built circa 1860 in Gothic style with a small front garden and to the rear a yard, kitchen garden and outbuildings. Much of the original layout and several original features remain. Access off Cavendish Road is through the original gritstone gate piers and gritstone front wall. The drive now tarmacked but with the original setts underneath, leads to the western side of the house. The front lawn is framed by evergreens and, nearer the villa, there is a gritstone rockery flanking the drive on the south east side. There is a front terrace to the north of the house altered with crazy pavings although two original 19th century urns remain. To the rear and to the south of the villa is a setted yard and beyond a kitchen garden divided by paths. In the south east corner of the garden is an octagonal gazebo in rendered rustic timber with pointed slate roof and triangular headed door, it is uncertain if this still survives. In the south west corner is a gothic garden house, circa 1870, rendered with barge boards to gable ends, Tudor arched door with decorative hinges, two light casement, unaltered interior, marble fireplace and cupboard - possibly a children's playroom or writers den. Attached to the right-hand is a garden shed with castellated parapet and another Tudor arched door. The garden is of special historic interest as a typical and fairly extant example of a small villa garden of the mid 19th century. Of special interest are the two garden buildings.
