Assets can be considered rare if they exhibit an unusual design or an early example of new technology or use of building materials. The asset may be a particularly good example of a locally dominant building type (an asset that might be commonplace in your local district, but considered rare in other areas of Greater Manchester).
Ask yourself……..
- Is this asset unusual in its design, either within your district or within Greater Manchester?
- Was the asset built using materials that are unusual for your district?
- Is the asset one of only a few that was constructed using a certain technology?
- Is the use of the asset rare? Is it the only example of a type of institutional building for example?
