Description

Historic Interest: First depicted on mapping from the 1890s along with a number of similarly sized properties on each side of Harboro Road. Architectural Interest: Large semi-detached 3-storey properties, 4 bays on the front elevation with bays 1 and 4 formed of projecting gables. Slate roofs throughout. Narrow windows beneath ground floor windows indicate that at least no.16 is cellared. Grey coloured brick in header-bond with red-brick string coursing. Third-storey of front-facing gables have mock-tudor black-painted timber detailing above windows up to roof level. Shorter red-brick chimneys on each gable end, with arched windows at first floor level. Aesthetic Value: The building makes a positive contribution to the historic character of the area. Group Value: Similar scale, massing, style and date as neighbouring semi (20-22). Together with 20-22 these properties mark the differing styles of probably the same architect.
