Description

One terrace of 3 houses, nos. 63-67 and a pair of semi-detached Victorian houses, 69 and 71; some now occupied as flats. Brick with slate roof. ? 2 storey with cellars. No 71 has later incongruous extension on the end. Bay windows at front, alternating 3-sided and square. 1st floor front windows - sash with two x 6 pane. Front doors in arched opening. Yellow/grey sandstone garden wall with stone gateposts, across all five. Pedestrian access only, at front. One house in Woodlands Bank was the childhood home of artist Douglas Marshall Rigby, born 1891, killed in WW1. Site is raised above road level, facing Altrincham Golf Course.

Not on 1838 Tithe Map. (field was part of Timperley Hall lands) Can’t find on 1851 Census. 1861 Census - merchant class: corn merchant, oil merchant, gentleman, mechanical engineer, all with one or more servants. Occupiers listed in Kelly’s Directory of Cheshire 1864.
