Description

Presbyterian Church of Wales. One of only two Welsh churches in Greater Manchester; the other is in Didsbury. Erected 1903. Brickwork is raking stretcher bond with simple but striking decoration. Windows and doorway in a pseudo gothic style.

Architectural and Artistic Interest

Red brick , as the other buildings in the road . Has an inlaid date panel and a roof decoration that is presumably a dove although difficult to determine exactly. Plain but strong design. Interior has plain whitewashed walls with wooden pews for the congregation .

A link to the welsh community of Altrincham and surrounding district.

Archaeological Interest

Similar character to the early 20th-century appearance of the residential buildings in Willowtree Road .

A landmark in the development of outer Altrincham at the end of the 19th century and beginning of the 20th century as former farmland and orchards became residential areas.
