Description

Three dwelling houses in one building, two storey in brick with slate roofs. No32 Yew Tree Cottage, no34 Pear Tree Cottage, no36 Willow Cottage. Outbuildings at rear. Possible that the central cottage no.34 is one of two cottages shown on 1838 Tithe Map, and part of number 32 could be the other. No.32 - has been extended in recent years but basically one room deep with front on the south end. No. 34 - frontage to the road No.36 - estate agent details (1978) say 'parts of it believed to date to late 18th century'. Current owner has date of 1860. It has cellars, and dormer bedroom on second floor. Roof shows various pitch changes, which may indicate extensions. Deeds go back to 1680s. Occupiers include Meldrum family (engineering), Ernest Taylor surgeon, John Richardson, schoolmaster.
