Description

Sunday School (HER No. 38804) associated with either the Primitive Methodist Chapel (HER No.140185) or the Congregational Chapel (HER No.138802), both nearby buildings that have been demolished. An internal plan of the building, showing separate rooms for boys and girls, is depicted on the 1880 OS 1:500 Town Plan of St Austell. The building is also shown on the 1st Edition OS 1881, 1906 OS and 1933 OS Revision as a Sunday School. Probably mid C19. Local rubble with granite dressings and keyed brick arches; hipped roof. Simple example with 3 flat-arched windows to each side elevation and a round-arched doorway to one end. Now converted into flats. Identified in the St Austell THI survey as Possible Locally Significant Building depending on further research.
