Location/Address

Hendra china clay works, South of St Dennis

Type

Building

Roofed and walled permanent structures.

Description

A small rotative engine house with remote chimney stack (HER No. 27069.10). Built of granite rubble masonry with ashlar granite quoins on the bob wall, and brick arched window openings. Post-1907 in date, the condition of the house overall was poor but stable in 1990. In front of the house are the loadings for the flywheel; the cylinder bedstone is in situ and the size of the engine cylinder would appear to have been approx 30 ins. The detached stack is of granite with a local white brick cap. The building is visible on aerial photographs and has been plotted as part of the NMP. Recommended by local Cornwall councillor, Dick Cole, for inclusion in the CLHL and as a potential candidate for statutory protection.
