Higher Gothers (HER No.72466) - Four groups of pan kiln and settling tanks are visible on aerial photographs in an area marked as 'Higher Gothers China Clay Works' on OS 2nd Edition 1:2500 maps. The features have been plotted as part of the NMP.
Gothers (HER No. 19900) - This site at Gothers has been processing china-clay in air-dries and pan-kilns since the mid C19. Three pan kilns (19900.1, 19900.2 and 19900.3) were visited by CAU in 1990. There is more detail about these features in the HER, as well as associated tramways and other pan kilns remains further south, on the on the other side of the road.
Recommended by local Cornwall councillor, Dick Cole, for inclusion in the CLHL and as a potential candidate for statutory protection.
