Description
Single-storey building designed in a stripped Renaissance style. Faced in red brick with sandstone dressings and quoins, Welsh slate roof with terracotta ridge cresting and truncated ridge vent. Asymmetrical frontage with porch up steps to left, with balustraded parapet and panelled timber double doors. To right, a symmetrical group of four timber sash windows with some surviving etched glass and gable centred over; a stone plaque inscribed: SOUTH SHORE / FREE LIBRARY / 1893. Elevation articulated with pilasters to openings and an ashlar lintel band. Left return to Adrian Street is plain, with narrow timber sash windows within segmental heads. Built up to the back of the footway, with two late C20 telephone boxes, cycle rack and bench outside.
