First appears on the Ordnance Survey 1st Edition 1:2500 map of 1877 within a large corner plot south of Antonio’s Villas, occupying the corner of West Grove and South Grove. Large glasshouse on the southern side of the house is much reduced by the mid-20th century. Similar style to Bankfield House at 2 West Grove, but in a much larger plot. Large villa in three bays. Original boundary wall with decorative coloured-brick panels, dark saw-toothed string-course and copings extends along South Grove towards a coach-house at the south-west corner of the plot. Entrance from South Grove along the wall line is flanked by a name-stone and a setting for a bell-pull.
