Roofed and walled permanent structures.

Description

Small district bank. Single storey building constructed from rustic brick with off white terracotta dressings and Westmorland slate roof behind coped parapet. 3 bays on each main elevation with a canted corner for the main entrance. Terracotta door casing with terracotta pediment above and deep cornice running along all elevations. More recent flat roof extension running across the back of the building. The building is set back from the corner in a slightly elevated position and is approached by steps with curved boundary walls. The former bank is an attractive feature at the busy junction and makes a positive contribution to the townscape.

The bank was built in a rapidly developing residential area, formerly a small historic settlement in the separate parish of Marton.
