Description

Early twentieth century former furniture factory of E Gomme, rebuilt in1922 and used for aicraft production during WWII. Former factory of E Gomme, the company founded by Ebenezer Gomme, comprising four-storey brick factory built early 1900s and rebuilt in 1922 after a serious fire. Also the house of Ebenezer Gomme with date-inscription of 1909, and now used as an office. Noted as the factory where Gomme's famous G-Plan range was first made. Archaeological Interest

The factory was originally built in the early 1900s but was seriously damaged by a fire and rebuilt in 1922. Remains of the earlier building and evidence of the fire may be present beneath the current ground levels. Any such remains could be of archaeological interest, in particular to industrial archaeology research.
