Description

Nineteenth century Baptist Church and Sundat School at Wycombe Marsh, built in 1857 and later extended. Locally listed. 1857 flint rubble, red brick quoins and dressings, Welsh slates. Corbelled brick parapet with stone coping to wide gable with stone panel. 'Union Chapel Sunday School Erected April 1857'. 3 pointed arched windows and central upper window. Red brick east wing with 3 narrow windows in reveals, sunk panel between ground and first floor to form continuos reveals, upper window pointed heads. (Part of a group: St Ann's Church, Nos 559 & 561, Nos 563-569 London Road, and Wycombe Marsh Baptist Church)(B1). 1st edition 6-inch and 25-inch OS maps only show the western wing ('Sunday School'); presumably the building was extended to the east before 1900, when it is shown on the 2nd edition OS 6-inch map (B2).
