A former small school dated 1843, converted and is now a house. It was closed in 1963 as only ten children were attending the school.

Architectural and Artistic Interest

Stone built former school, constructed from stone with tall mullioned and transomed windows and square hooded drip moulds. There is a tall arched opening on the front elevation which is now a window, but possibly a former entrance door as there is a worn stone step and boot scrapers. Retains cobbled/sett yard/grounds and has a stone boundary wall finished with large rounded coping stones and stone gate posts.

Historic Interest

The former school was owned by St Barnabas church at Heapey. Margaret Whitehead of Rose Cottage (White Coppice) was the headmistress at the local school.
