Description

An ornate public drinking fountain designed by BA Pickering and erected in September 1908. The fountain rises from a base of Tegsnose stone, four polished black and white granite columns on circular stone bases that support a stone canopy, surmounted by a Maltese cross. Beneath the canopy is a circular granite basin. The fountain was a gift to Hale from TM Walsh, a former resident, in memory of his son, George. The original fountain had a water trough for animals, but this no longer exists.
