Medieval ditch surrounding village recorded in field survey Dimensions - Length 0400 m Width 0200 Plan Form - OBLONG VILLAGE ENCLOSURE SURROUNDS HOGGESTON. CORNERS ROUNDED & ENCLOSING DITCH, LESS VISIBLE ON N & S SIDES. WITHIN IT STAND VILLAGE & CHURCH (B1-2). EARTHWORK PROBABLY DEFENDED ORIGINAL SETTLEMENT (B3). FEATURES POSSIBLY REPRESENT VILLAGE SHRINKAGE - TRACKWAYS ETC (B4).
