The upper part of Granville Street, close to the junction with St. Mary's Square is dominated by No. 14 (Ashton House).
The north-western side of Granville Street differs in appearance from the south-eastern side. The upper part of the street close to the junction with St. Mary's Square is dominated by 14, Granville Street (Ashton House). Ashton House is set back from the road at an angle to both Granville Street and Ripon Street. It is a late 19th century symmetrical building with a central doorway and flanking wooden sash windows. It is built of red bricks laid in a Flemish bond with an attractive carved soffit detail. The roof is fully hipped and covered in natural slate. To either side of the building is an attractive high brick wall with curved coping which further emphasises the symmetrical appearance of the building. This is a local building of note within the Conservation Area of Aylesbury. (B1).
