Early to mid-nineteenth century thatched cottage, with later extensionsAge
Early to mid-nineteenth century thatched cottage, with later extensions. Probably shown on OS surveyor's 2-inch draft drawing of c1810 (B2).Architectural and Artistic Interest
Two storey thatched and painted brick cottage with front and rear extensions. Although it has several modern extensions including a two storey side extension replacing an attached garage ( 07/00807/APP) and more recently (20/01254/APP) for replacement of Orangery with a single storey rear extension; the building still portrays aesthetic value through its detailing finishing treatments and traditional construction. The building has been somewhat enveloped by modern development, but that also adds to its charm and interest as a remaining vestige of the historic environment context (B1).Group Value
It has group value being part of Chequers Lane and Pitstone’s evolution.Historic Interest
Robin Cottage would appear to date back to the early C19th and forms part of the historic Chequers Lane grouping north of Cheddington Road. It has historic value given its age and rarity as a vernacular survival.Images and Documents
