LLB16 - Large 18th century farmhouse – 3 storey. Prominent in the flat landscape. Irregular proportioned windows. Brick wall encircles the front of the property. Walls are pebbledash rendered and have painted quoin stones. Large pitch roofed entrance porch. Windows have been replaced –possibly proportions altered. May have had chimneys removed.

Group Value

Located close to brick farm outbuildings including a brick built barn. One out building has been converted into a dwelling.

Historic Interest

Date stone – John and Mary Walkden 1758. Built by a Bickerstaffe “Constable” – John Walkden who was employed by the township and nominated by the Lord of the Manor. A position of responsibility and enforced some aspects of local law.
