Description

LLB34 - White rendered Victorian detached house. Canted bay window either side of the main entrance. Most striking feature is an unusual “folly” style extension built in decorative red brick in a Gothic revival style. Many decorative architectural features including a feature chimney. Purpose unknown, but possible use as Billiard Room (local knowledge). The main building has been rendered but the extension appears to be unaltered.

Located within Junction Lane Conservation Area. Similar materials to former garden wall of no. 1 Junction Lane – part of former gardens of this property – now subdivided and occupied by housing.

Historic Interest

Has a stone plaque engraved with the text; “May this Our Home as Pleasant be, as our Ancestral Broomy Leigh” James and Jane Bromley AD. 1889”*text transferred from photograph so there may be inaccuracies* Association therefore with former local residents.
