Description

LLB151 - Twin canal lock located between river and Rufford branch of the Leeds Liverpool Canal. Timber lock gates and stone canal banks. Substantial structure in the landscape. Little change evident.

Group Value

Group value with the Canal and associated infrastructure.

Historic Interest

Canal was an important piece of infrastructure in the area since it allowed the movement of agricultural and other products to wider markets. This previously also linked up to a goods branch line on the railway. Complex piece of engineering which deals with tidal flow of River Douglas.
