The information on these pages sets out the criteria against which assets will be assessed for inclusion on each Districts’ Local List.  It aims to be broad in its scope and terminology and open to interpretation to allow for just that local variation which this programme aims to identify, to enable our local communities to define what has heritage significance for them.

The following criteria and terminology are based on Historic England Advice Note 7 (2021), Civic Voice Local Heritage Listing Toolkit (2018), DCMS Principles of Selection for Listed Buildings (2018) and discussions of the Cambridgeshire Conservation Officer’s Forum (September 2021). 

The term ‘assets’ has been adopted to avoid being exclusive.
