Volunteer

Whilst people are able to put forward candidates directly to the website there is also an opportunity for you to get more involved.

The amount of time you commit to the project is entirely flexible and up to you. Whilst experience in the different areas is helpful, it is not a necessary requirement for all volunteer roles as full training will be provided.

There are three main volunteer roles:

  • Surveyor- To  carry out site visits to identify and assess potential local heritage list candidates
  • Photographer- To carry out site visits to compile a good photographic record of local heritage list candidates
  • Researcher- To carry out documentary research to better understand the significance of local heritage list candidates

Click on links to the pdf's below to find out more about each role.

There will also be an opportunity for people to put their names forward to become an assessment panel volunteer, who will form part of a panel to review candidate nominations against the selection criteria. This role requires expert knowledge in either architecture, archaeology, local history, designed landscapes or public art and previous experience and skills in heritage assessment.

If you are interested in volunteering for one (or more!) of the roles please tell us in the relevant expertise/interests section when you register on this website and also indicate which Districts/towns/villages you would be likely to cover. Alternatively you can contact our project officer jessica.johnston@cambridgeshire.gov.uk who will then be in touch to talk you through the volunteer recruitment process.
