Sites (Archaeological)

There are many types of sites of archaeological interest ranging from the Prehistoric through to the modern day. These sites may be represented as below ground remains, earthworks, or cropmarks. These sites may be associated with agriculture, industry, settlement, commemoration, commerce, religion and war (not an exhaustive list).

Examples of sites of archaeological interest include: areas of ridge & furrow, deserted medieval villages, barrows, salterns, farmsteads, monastic sites etc.
