Areas and Landscapes

Areas Landscapes are spaces that have some form of function within the historic environment.  They can be naturally formed, or modified by human intervention, or a combination of both. They may have non-physical associations such as areas renowned for for a particular tradition, event etc. The Historic Landscape Character often illustrates the time-depth of an area such as particular field patterns or appearance. They often appropriate, or have direct links with other heritage assets within the historic environment and as such often have group value.

This Asset Type is a broad category and less definable than other asset types such as Buildings & Structures. Examples of some the Areas & Landscapes you might find in these categories within Lincolnshire are:

Parks around Country Houses, Public Parks, Promenade Gardens, Cemeteries / Memorials, Navigation Canals, Village Greens / Common Land, Airfields, Pre/Post Enclosure Fields, Parish Boundaries demarcated by historic hedgerows etc.
